Urbanization is considered a major anthropogenic factor due to the many consequences it has on

earth’s ecosystem and Houston is no exclusion. The increase in roads has contributed the greatest

pollution effect in Houston showcased by an increase in transportation. The increase in

population and expansion of city limits motivates a transportation rich society leads to the

formation of greenhouse gasses, namely CO2, NOx’s and SOX’s. Carbon dioxide plays an

important role in the increase of annual temperatures throughout the city and surrounding areas

while NOx’s and SOx’s cause detriment towards the formation and growth of nearby plants.

With such a large city the spread of such effects caused by CO2, NOx’s and SOX’s

Remote sensing provides an innovative method for analyzing anthropogenic effects.
